Download the GOV.UK One Login app

To download the GOV.UK One Login app, you either need:

  • an iPhone running iOS 16.7 or higher
  • an Android phone (for example a Samsung or Google Pixel) running Android 10 or higher

If you’re using a computer or tablet, open the app store on your phone and search for GOV.UK One Login.

If you’re using your phone, you can tap one of the following buttons (opens in new tab).

Warning You’ll need to go back to the service you were using to finish adding your document after you’ve downloaded the app.

If you’re having trouble adding a document to the app

There are a few things you can try if you could not add a document to the app.

Make sure your phone can open links in the app

If you already have the app, check your phone can open links in the app and try to add your document again.

How you do this depends on which phone you have.

If you’re using an iPhone
  1. Go back to the page in the service that told you how to add your document to the app.
  2. If the page is open on your phone, touch and hold the button to download the GOV.UK One Login app. If you were using a computer or tablet, scan the QR code and tap the button that appears in the bottom right of your Camera app.
  3. Select Open in GOV.UK One Login from the list of options you see.
If you’re using an Android phone
  1. Go to your phone settings.
  2. Select Apps and find the option to manage your default apps.
  3. Find GOV.UK One Login in the list and make sure it can open supported links in the app.

Try scanning the QR code with the GOV.UK One Login app

Try adding the document again by scanning the QR code with the GOV.UK One Login app instead of your camera app. If you were using a phone, you'll need to start again on a computer or tablet to see the QR code.

  1. Go to the GOV.UK website on your computer or tablet.
  2. Find the service you were using and follow the instructions to add your document to the app.
  3. When asked to scan a QR code, open the GOV.UK One Login app.
  4. Go to Documents.
  5. Tap Add document.
  6. Tap If you’ve already started adding a document.
  7. Tap Open QR code scanner. This will open something that looks like your camera.
  8. Move your phone until the QR code is clearly visible on your screen to scan it.
  9. Confirm you want to add your document to the app.
